Meet the individuals who volunteer their time to run the Miss Worcester County Scholarship Organization. The Miss America Organization has made an important impact on each of their lives and now they are determined to give back by supporting the dreams and ambitions of young women in Worcester County.
Steve Smith
Director
Before taking the reins of the Miss Worcester County Scholarship Organization in 2020, Steve served for 6 years on the Miss CT Board of directors, including one year as president and two as vice-president. He was also previously the Business Manager for the Miss Greater Rockville Scholarship Organization in Vernon, CT.
Steve is an award-winning photojournalist for Courant Community, a division of the Hartford Courant, and has covered pageants, including the Miss America pageant, since 2010. He also enjoys covering local and state pageants in New England, and has judged several competitions, including Miss Maine 2018 and Miss Rhode Island 2015.
Steve runs his own photography business, Steve Smith Photography, and specializes in modeling portfolio shoots, sports and special events.
Born in Springfield, Mass, and living just over the line in Enfield, CT, Steve has always considered himself to have “dual-citizenship” in both states. He also formerly worked in Worcester at the WWFX/WXLO radio cluster.
Also a realtor, Steve especially enjoys helping families find their new home.
In his spare time, Steve enjoys cycling, hiking, museums, day trips and artistic photography.
Steve strongly believes that the future of humanity relies on the empowerment of women, which fuels his support of the intelligent and motivated women of the Miss America Organization.
Brianna Munoz
Business Manager
Dr. Brianna Muñoz is a board-certified pediatric dentist and represents the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) as a public policy advocate for the state of Connecticut. Originally from Worcester, Massachusetts, she is a proud alumnus of Venerini Academy as well as St. Peter-Marian High School. Dr. Muñoz graduated from the Liberal Arts Honors Program at Providence College with a double major in chemistry and biology and a minor in dance. She obtained her doctorate in dental medicine from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine at which time she was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) National Dental Honor Society. Dr. Muñoz completed a residency in pediatric dentistry at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center (CCMC) and concurrently attained her Master of Public Health (MPH) degree along with a Certificate of Interdisciplinary Disability Studies through a UConn-HRSA Dual Degree Training Program.
With an avid interest in oral health advocacy, Dr. Muñoz is currently President of the Connecticut Oral Health Initiative (COHI), a non-profit organization that promotes equity, access, and quality of oral health care. She also serves as Legislative Representative for the Connecticut Society of Pediatric Dentists (CSPD), Board Member of the Hispanic Health Council (HHC), and Region 1 Representative for the AAPD Pediatric Dental Medicaid & CHIP Advisory Committee of the Council on Government Affairs. Her interest in public health was first incited while volunteering on a service trip to Neltume, Chile when she was exposed to the plight of oral health care disparities. Since then, it became her personal and professional goal to impact policy in promoting oral health and preventing disease for all children irrespective of race, ethnicity, or income level.
Appearing on billboards, television commercials, and radio advertisements, she enjoys working as a model and spokesperson for MGM Springfield and is always ready to cheer on Boston sports teams as an avid fan and former New England Patriots Cheerleader for the 2011 and 2021 seasons. Over the years, Dr. Muñoz placed as a Top 5 Finalist for Miss Massachusetts Teen USA in both 2006 and 2007 as well as for Miss Connecticut MAO in 2014. In 2022, she was Miss Connecticut AMB and progressed to Semifinals at the national pageant in Dallas, TX where she also received the Boss Babe Award. Dr. Muñoz is honored to be back in her hometown to judge the Miss Worcester County Pageant and is looking forward to working with the contestants!
